The first step is setting up an initial meeting to look at the area you want to landscape. This allows us to learn your likes, dislikes, and your vision for the area. The next step will be to provide a proposal for what the work will encompass as well as the price point for the project. If the proposal is adequate, then we can move on to a formal landscape
drawing and complete set of plans. Once the final plans are approved, we move forward with a signed quote and scheduling of the work.
We do not charge for drawings but do not move forward with official plans unless a proposal has been accepted.
Yes, in this case we do charge for drawings. Drawings are billed per hour at a rate of $80 per hour with a $160 minimum charge.
Yes, we require approximately 50% of the total project cost upfront.
We take cash, check and credit cards. Any invoices over $1,000 will be subject to an additional charge of 2.9% of the total project cost.
Plants are guaranteed for one year from date of installation. All hardscapes are guaranteed for five years from the date of installation.
This is dependent on the time of the year. During the spring and summer months our turnaround time can be 2-6 weeks. This depends on how many drawings our team is working on at a given time. During the fall and winter months, average lead time is are 1-2 weeks.
This comes down to a matter of preference to the homeowner. If you are looking for a lower maintenance landscape, rock is our recommendation. If you like to be more active in your garden and plant annuals, we recommend mulch. Mulch however should be top dressed annually whereas rock does not need to be.
We always recommend western red cedar mulch. This mulch has a wonderful fragrance, is natural, is the slowest to decay, and is termite resistant. Hardwood mulch is our second recommendation as colored mulch can add a sharp contrast to landscapes.
We only use landscape fabric when landscaping with rock. We only use top of the line 20 year woven landscape fabric. This woven fabric allows water, air and nutrients into the soil while creating a barrier to prevent weed growth. When landscaping with mulch, we do not use landscape fabric. Since mulch is an organic material, it will decompose on top of the fabric and create a layer of compost which allows weed growth. Mulch also needs to make contact with the soil to prevent the mulch from blowing away in windstorms. When mulch is placed on top of fabric, it can blow away easily.
