Cool-season grass like the bluegrass and fescue in most Iowa lawns does its strongest root growth in September and early October. Aerating now means your lawn rebuilds all fall and comes back thicker in spring. Spring aeration mostly helps the weeds.

Those open plug holes are the perfect seedbed. Overseeding right after aeration fills thin spots and thickens up the whole stand of grass. If your lawn’s patchy, stressed or recovering from damage, this combo is the fastest honest way back to a full lawn. Ask for both when you book and we’ll do them in one visit.
How It Works
- You book. We’ll confirm a day and you don’t need to be home.
- We flag sprinkler heads and invisible fence lines so nothing gets hit.
- We pull cores across the whole lawn. The plugs stay on the lawn and break down in a week or two. That’s the good stuff going back in.
- Overseeding goes down right after if you’ve added it.
- You water. We’ll leave simple instructions for the next two weeks.

How much does aeration cost?
Most lawns are under a hundred dollars, and we’ll quote yours before we do anything. Aeration with overseeding depends on lawn size, so call or send the form and we’ll get you a number fast.
Do you mark sprinkler heads?
Yes. We flag heads and dog-fence lines before the machine touches grass.
What about the plugs on my lawn?
Leave them. They break down in a couple weeks and feed the soil. Raking them up throws away half the benefit.
Can you aerate if I didn’t book by a certain date?
We run aeration into late October as long as the ground cooperates. Later than that, it’s worth waiting for next fall.
